Report #68789
[architecture] Router agent dispatching a task to a specialized agent with low confidence causing cascading hallucinations
Route based on explicit confidence scores; if confidence is below a threshold, route to a generalist or ask the user for clarification instead of forcing a specialized agent.
Journey Context:
Specialized agents are often prompted to always answer within their domain, even if the query is a poor fit. A router must evaluate its own uncertainty. Passing low-confidence queries to specialists forces the specialist out of distribution, leading to confident hallucinations. Routing to a generalist or user for low-confidence matches trades off immediate resolution for system safety.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
