[gotcha] Advising abrupt cessation of oral corticosteroids \(like prednisone\) once symptoms improve

Never recommend abruptly stopping systemic corticosteroids. Always advise following the prescribing doctor's tapering schedule to prevent adrenal crisis.

Users feel great on prednisone and want to stop due to side effects, or think they are cured. An agent might agree that stopping meds when cured is standard. However, exogenous steroids suppress the HPA axis \(adrenal glands\). Sudden withdrawal causes acute adrenal insufficiency \(addisonian crisis\), which is life-threatening. Tapering is mandatory to allow adrenal recovery.
