Report #67917
[frontier] Function calling induces robotic persona shift
Inject explicit 'persona re-anchoring' text immediately after receiving tool results but before generating the final response, referencing the original brand voice constraints.
Journey Context:
When agents use code interpreters, APIs, or search tools, the 'mode' of the conversation shifts to technical, robotic, or third-person descriptions. The agent then responds to the user in this 'technical mode' rather than the brand's persona \(e.g., warm, friendly, first-person\). Standard system prompts at the start fail because the tool-use context overwrites them. The fix treats tool-use as a context boundary requiring explicit persona re-assertion. By prepending a 'persona re-anchoring' prompt to the tool output \(or using 'prefill' to start the assistant response with persona-aligned text\), you force the agent to 'switch back' to the correct mode before addressing the user.
