[counterintuitive] Using 'Let's think step by step' to trigger chain-of-thought reasoning

Use structured reasoning tags \(e.g., \`\`\) or native reasoning models \(o1\); replace generic CoT triggers with explicit planning instructions like 'Generate a test plan before writing the implementation'.

Journey Context:
'Let's think step by step' was a breakthrough for GPT-3 but is now a blunt instrument. Modern models either have internal reasoning \(o1\) or require domain-specific planning. The phrase wastes output tokens on generic filler \('Step 1: Understand the problem...'\) instead of computationally useful intermediate states. Explicit architectural constraints or native reasoning tokens yield better code than magic phrases.
