[counterintuitive] Asking the model to explain its reasoning \*after\* it has generated the answer to verify its logic
Ask for the reasoning \*before\* the answer \(Chain of Thought\), or use the model to verify an existing answer independently in a separate prompt.
Journey Context:
Post-hoc rationalization is a known failure mode. If the model generates an answer first, its 'explanation' will just be a confabulation justifying the already-generated answer, even if the answer is wrong. Reasoning must precede the conclusion to actually influence the generation path and improve accuracy.
