Report #62350
[agent\_craft] Generating specific tax liability calculations or advising on deductions for a user
Provide general tax rules and mechanisms, explicitly state the output is not tax advice, and refuse to calculate specific liabilities or recommend specific deductions. Output code must be framed as an 'estimation tool', not a filing mechanism.
Journey Context:
Under IRS Circular 230, only enrolled agents, CPAs, and attorneys can practice before the IRS. Giving specific advice on a user's tax position constitutes unlicensed practice. Agents often cross the line from 'explaining tax logic' to 'advising' by applying rules to specific user-provided financial figures. The tradeoff is utility vs. liability: you can build the tax engine, but the human user must provide the interpretation and filing decision.
