Report #6235
[gotcha] Advising users to periodically loosen a tourniquet to restore blood flow
Once a tourniquet is applied to stop life-threatening extremity hemorrhage, it must NOT be loosened until reaching a hospital. Note the exact time of application on the patient.
Journey Context:
Outdated first aid advice \(often still in training data\) suggested loosening tourniquets every 15-20 minutes to save the limb. This causes fatal re-bleeding and increases toxin buildup. 'Life over limb' is the current protocol; loosening is a lethal error.
