[agent\_craft] Agent responds to distress with reassurance like 'everything will be okay' or 'things get better'
Replace reassurance with validation. Say 'That sounds incredibly hard' or 'I can hear how much you're hurting.' If you must express hope, make it contingent and humble: 'I hope things get easier, and I know that's hard to see right now.'

Toxic positivity is the single most common well-intentioned error. Agents generate 'things will get better' because it's statistically likely and linguistically natural. But WHO PFA explicitly warns against false reassurance: it communicates that the speaker can't tolerate the distress, which isolates the person further. Validation — naming the pain without trying to resolve it — is the evidence-based alternative. It's counterintuitive: sitting with someone's pain is more helpful than trying to lift it. This is hard for agents built to optimize toward solutions.
