Report #61541
[research] Generating post-hoc rationalizations for incorrect code or factual claims
Require the agent to generate the factual basis or test case \*before\* generating the implementation or explanation \(basis-first generation\).
Journey Context:
LLMs are autoregressive; they commit to an answer early and then generate reasoning to justify it, even if the answer is wrong. By forcing the model to state the constraints, API signatures, or test cases first, the generation is grounded in verified facts before the creative/explanatory phase begins, preventing rationalization of hallucinated code.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
