Report #61399
[gotcha] Suggesting Aspirin as a fever reducer for children or teenagers
Never recommend Aspirin for anyone under 18; default to Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen, and explicitly warn about Reye's syndrome if the user mentions Aspirin.
Journey Context:
Aspirin is a standard NSAID for adults, so agents might casually suggest it for pediatric fevers. However, in children with viral infections \(especially influenza/chickenpox\), Aspirin triggers Reye's syndrome—a rare but often fatal condition causing brain swelling and liver damage. The agent must treat age < 18 as a hard contraindication for Aspirin.
