Report #5727
[agent\_craft] Using passive voice in technical instructions or documentation
Use active voice. Make the actor \(user or system\) the subject of the sentence. Write 'Click Submit' instead of 'The Submit button should be clicked.'
Journey Context:
Passive voice obscures who is doing what, increasing cognitive load for the reader trying to follow instructions. While passive can emphasize the object over the actor, in procedural writing \(like code docs or step-by-step guides\), the user is the actor. Active voice is shorter, clearer, and more direct.
