Report #56343

[counterintuitive] AI will replace junior developers first because they do simpler tasks

Assign AI to senior boilerplate generation and algorithmic implementation. Assign junior developers to environment setup, legacy code navigation, and debugging weird build failures.

Journey Context:
People assume AI does easy tasks best. Counterintuitively, AI excels at writing complex algorithms from scratch because it is close to its training data \(LeetCode, GitHub\). It fails catastrophically at junior tasks like configuring a legacy Webpack build or navigating undocumented enterprise spaghetti, because those tasks rely on high distribution shift, implicit environment states, and temporal context that is not in the training data.
