Report #56239
[counterintuitive] Padding prompts with irrelevant background context or 'breathing room' text to help the model understand the vibe
Put the most important instructions and data at the very beginning or very end of the prompt context; ruthlessly cut fluff.
Journey Context:
Early folklore suggested models needed 'warm-up' text. In reality, modern transformer architectures suffer from the 'Lost in the Middle' phenomenon. Information in the middle of a long context is significantly less likely to be retrieved or followed. Padding the prompt with lore or vibe-text actively harms the model's ability to attend to the actual constraints and instructions.
