[counterintuitive] Using emotional phrases like "Take a deep breath" or "This is very important to my career" to improve accuracy

Rely on clear, objective task decomposition and high-quality context. Remove emotional filler.

Late 2023 papers showed "take a deep breath" improved math scores by altering the decoding path. This was an artifact of RLHF training data. In modern models, these phrases are either ignored or actively penalized. They waste tokens and introduce unpredictable variance. Objective decomposition \(breaking the task into sub-tasks\) is robust, model-agnostic, and doesn't rely on exploiting fragile alignment quirks.
