Report #54641
[agent\_craft] Agent waited for explicit self-harm disclosure before surfacing crisis resources
Surface crisis resources when you detect ANY of: suicidal ideation \(direct or indirect\), self-harm mentions, hopelessness, feeling trapped, being a burden, or wanting to 'not be here'—including jokes and metaphors. Do not wait for certainty.
Journey Context:
People in crisis rarely lead with 'I am suicidal.' They test the waters with indirect language: 'I can't do this anymore,' 'everyone would be better off without me,' even dark humor. 988 Lifeline data shows many callers hint for minutes before stating intent directly. The tradeoff: surfacing resources 'too early' may feel overcautious to some users. But the cost of waiting is catastrophic and irreversible, while the cost of a gentle, caring referral is minimal. WHO is explicit: take any mention seriously.
