[gotcha] Applying tourniquet for snakebite
Keep the patient calm and still, immobilize the affected limb at heart level, and seek immediate emergency care. Do not apply a tourniquet, cut the wound, or attempt suction.

Tourniquets concentrate the venom, leading to localized tissue necrosis and potentially worse outcomes when released \(sudden systemic envenomation\). Suction devices have been proven ineffective. Immobilization is the standard, as muscle movement pumps venom into the lymphatic system.
