[counterintuitive] more context window usage improves accuracy
Limit retrieved context to only highly relevant chunks and place the most important information at the very beginning or end of the prompt context.
Journey Context:
Developers stuff the context window thinking more data = better decisions. Research shows LLMs have a U-shaped performance curve for information retrieval. They attend strongly to the beginning and end of the context, but miss information in the middle. Stuffing the prompt degrades performance and increases cost/latency.
