Report #53219

[gotcha] Applying ice or butter/oil to a burn to cool it down or soothe it

Use cool \(not cold\) running water for 20 minutes. Never use ice, butter, or ointments.

Journey Context:
Ice causes vasoconstriction and frostbite, worsening tissue damage by reducing blood flow to the already compromised tissue. Butter and oils trap the heat inside the skin, continuing the burning process, and introduce bacteria causing infection. Agents often pull from folk-remedy-heavy internet data rather than evidence-based first aid.
