Report #53193

[gotcha] Recommending ibuprofen or NSAIDs for pain/fever without screening for asthma

Always ask about asthma or nasal polyps before recommending NSAIDs. If present, recommend paracetamol/acetaminophen instead, and warn of severe bronchospasm risk.

Journey Context:
Ibuprofen is generally safe for the public, but a subset of asthmatics \(especially those with Samter's triad / NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease\) can experience severe, life-threatening bronchospasm. Agents often treat asthma as a condition that only precludes beta-blockers, missing the critical NSAID cross-reactivity.
