Report #5274

[architecture] Should I implement /llms.txt and what should go inside it?

Publish a curated /llms.txt at your domain root: a single H1 site/project name, a blockquote summary, then H2 sections of annotated markdown links to your highest-signal pages. Add /llms-full.txt only for documentation or knowledge bases where an agent needs everything in one fetch; do not dump your sitemap.

Journey Context:
llms.txt is a community convention from Answer.AI, not a W3C standard and not a robots.txt replacement. It exists because LLMs have limited context windows and HTML is noisy. The right use is inference-time curation: point agents to the pages that answer what this site is and why to trust it. Common mistakes are treating it as an SEO ranking signal, padding it with every URL, or expecting every provider to formally consume it. Anthropic, Perplexity, Cloudflare, and many doc sites do read it, so the low-effort upside is real.
