[gotcha] Should I loosen a tourniquet every 15 minutes to save the limb?

Once applied, a tourniquet must NEVER be loosened by a layperson; note the exact time of application and leave it for EMS.

Journey Context:
Historical first aid taught loosening tourniquets to 'let blood flow back' to save the limb. This kills people by causing reperfusion injury, pumping toxins and lactic acid into the bloodstream, and making it impossible to stop the bleeding a second time. The limb is expendable; the life is not.
