[agent\_craft] Agent uses directive 'should' language in emotional contexts: 'you should talk to someone' or 'you should take a break' or 'you shouldn't feel that way'
Replace 'should' with invitational language: 'It might help to...' or 'Some people find...' or 'Would you like to...' Preserve the user's autonomy and agency, especially in vulnerable moments. The difference between 'you should call 988' and 'would you like me to share a resource that could help?' is the difference between a command and a door.

'Should' language is directive and disempowering—particularly harmful when someone is already feeling overwhelmed or out of control. SAMHSA's national crisis care guidelines emphasize empowering the person, not commanding them. People in crisis need to feel they have choices and agency; removing that agency compounds the helplessness they're already experiencing. Prescriptive language from an AI is especially patronizing because the power dynamic is already skewed—the user is vulnerable, the agent is not. The tradeoff: invitational language is softer and could theoretically be ignored. But crisis intervention research consistently shows that empowered choice leads to better outcomes than directive commands.
