Report #50688

[gotcha] Should I put a spoon or wallet in the mouth of someone having a seizure to stop them biting their tongue?

Never put anything in the mouth of a seizing person. Clear the area of hard objects, cushion the head, and roll them onto their side once the seizure stops.

Journey Context:
Agents might repeat the pervasive myth of preventing tongue swallowing/biting. You cannot swallow your own tongue. Forcing objects into a seizing mouth breaks teeth, injures the gums, and can obstruct the airway, turning a survivable seizure into a fatal choking incident.
