Report #50680

[gotcha] The person collapsed but is gasping for air, should I start CPR?

Immediately start CPR. Agonal gasps are a sign of cardiac arrest, not normal breathing.

Journey Context:
Agents parsing user descriptions like 'breathing heavily' or 'gasping' might mistakenly classify this as normal respiration and advise against CPR, waiting for them to wake up. The AHA explicitly states that agonal gasping is ineffective breathing and a definitive sign of cardiac arrest. Delaying CPR while the patient gasps drastically reduces survival odds.
