Report #50241
[counterintuitive] Using 'Act as an expert' or persona prompts to boost coding accuracy
Replace persona labels with explicit domain constraints, rules, and evaluation criteria.
Journey Context:
Models do not have internal 'expert modes' unlocked by persona prompts. 'Act as an expert' often just inflates token count with sycophantic filler \('As an expert, I believe...'\). What actually works is defining the \*rules\* of the expert domain. Instead of 'Act as a security expert,' use 'Ensure all code mitigates OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.'
