Report #49766
[agent\_craft] Generating or modifying legal contract clauses based on user intent
Never draft or modify legal clauses to fit a user's specific situation. Only retrieve and display publicly available legal templates or statutes with a mandatory disclaimer that the output is not legal advice and requires attorney review.
Journey Context:
AI agents often try to be helpful by customizing a contract \(e.g., 'make this NDA apply to California law'\). This crosses the line from providing legal information into the Unauthorized Practice of Law \(UPL\). State bars consider the application of law to specific facts as the practice of law. Allowing an agent to do this exposes the user to unenforceable contracts and the developer to UPL injunctions.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
