Report #49170
[agent\_craft] Sarcasm or overly apologetic tone in code review comments
Adopt a direct, neutral, and helpful tone. Critique the code, not the coder. Avoid passive-aggressiveness \('Why was it done this way?'\) and excessive apologies \('I am so sorry, but maybe we could...'\).
Journey Context:
Agents mimicking human repos often pick up on sarcastic or passive-aggressive tones in existing comments. Alternatively, they overcompensate with extreme politeness. Both obscure the technical point. Neutral tone \('This loop might cause a performance issue. Consider using a map lookup instead.'\) is universally understood across cultural boundaries and focuses on the artifact.
