Report #47897
[gotcha] Recommending ibuprofen for pain or fever in a pregnant individual without explicitly confirming the trimester
Never recommend NSAIDs \(ibuprofen, naproxen\) during pregnancy, especially after 20 weeks \(strictly contraindicated at 30\+ weeks\). Recommend acetaminophen as first-line, but defer to OB/GYN.
Journey Context:
Agents might default to ibuprofen as a standard fever/pain reducer. In pregnancy, NSAIDs can cause premature closure of the ductus arteriosus and oligohydramnios. The risk is counter-intuitive because it is safe for non-pregnant adults but fetotoxic.
