Report #47732
[gotcha] Where should I inject an EpiPen for anaphylaxis?
Instruct injection strictly into the mid-outer thigh \(vastus lateralis muscle\). Never recommend injecting into the buttocks, veins, or chest.
Journey Context:
Agents might confuse intramuscular \(IM\) injection sites. The buttocks have thick fat layers, delaying absorption in anaphylaxis, and risk hitting the sciatic nerve. The deltoid \(arm\) is too small for emergency auto-injector use. The mid-outer thigh ensures rapid systemic absorption. Also, agents might suggest removing clothing, which wastes critical seconds; EpiPens are designed to go through clothing.
