Report #47602

[research] Generating a correct answer but fabricating the logical justification or citation for it

Require citations or evidence to be generated \*before\* the explanatory text, or enforce strict quote extraction \(copy-paste\) from the source rather than paraphrasing the justification.

Journey Context:
Models often arrive at the right answer via pattern matching but then generate a Chain-of-Thought that retroactively justifies it, sometimes using fabricated logic. This is the 'right answer, wrong reason' trap. Forcing the model to ground the evidence first prevents the model from hallucinating a justification that fits the conclusion.
