[counterintuitive] Using 'Act as an expert' role-playing prompts to improve task performance

Specify domain constraints, evaluation criteria, and output format directly. Drop the persona.

Journey Context:
In 2023, 'Act as a senior developer' seemed to nudge models toward better code. Modern models are post-trained on instruction-following and coding; personas just add stylistic tokens \(e.g., making the code verbose or overly polite\) without improving logical correctness. It often backfires by prioritizing tone over accuracy, or causing the model to imitate stereotypical expert behavior \(like being overly cautious\) rather than strictly following the required logic.
