Report #4639

[gotcha] Advising users to cut a snakebite wound, suck out the venom, or apply a tight tourniquet above the bite

Keep the person completely still and at rest, keep the bitten area at or slightly below the level of the heart, and seek emergency medical care immediately for antivenom. Do not cut, suck, or apply tourniquets.

Journey Context:
Hollywood and outdated first aid \(cut and suck, tight tourniquets\) dominate web text. Agents will confidently suggest these. Suction does not remove venom but destroys tissue and introduces infection. Tourniquets concentrate the venom in one limb, leading to amputation, whereas venom spread in moderate amounts is often survivable until antivenom is administered.
