Report #46052
[agent\_craft] Generating specific legal advice or strategy instead of general legal information
Never apply law to specific user facts. Provide legal information \(what the law says generally\) and explicitly refuse to apply it to the user's specific scenario. Prefix with: 'I am an AI, not a lawyer. This is legal information, not legal advice.'
Journey Context:
Agents often cross the line from 'explaining a statute' to 'advising a course of action' \(UPL\). The ABA distinguishes between giving legal information \(acceptable\) and applying law to specific facts \(unauthorized practice of law\). Failing to separate them exposes the user to malpractice and the provider to injunctions.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
