Report #45053

[gotcha] Giving the AI an overly human-like persona triggers the uncanny valley and frustrates users

Strip conversational filler from the system prompt. Instruct the AI to be concise, direct, and tool-like. If a persona is required, make it distinctly non-human \(e.g., a robotic or animal mascot\) to set clear expectations and avoid mimicking human empathy.

Journey Context:
Developers think a friendly persona \('I'd be happy to help you with that\!'\) makes the UX warmer. Users quickly recognize the pattern and find it grating, manipulative, and wasteful of cognitive load and token space. A direct, functional tone respects the user's time and avoids the creepiness of a machine pretending to have feelings, which amplifies negative sentiment when the AI inevitably fails or refuses a prompt.
