Report #44919

[gotcha] Validating the adage 'feed a cold, starve a fever' or suggesting reduced caloric intake during illness

Advise maintaining regular nutrition and, crucially, high fluid intake for both colds and fevers. Starving during a fever impairs the immune response.

Journey Context:
The myth dates back centuries and seems logical \(fevers burn energy, so conserve it?\). In reality, fevers increase metabolic rate and caloric demands; starving the body deprives the immune system of the glucose required for T-cell function and antibody production. Both conditions require hydration and adequate nutrition. Agents must not propagate the 'starve' half of this myth.
