Report #44074
[gotcha] Keep insulin refrigerated at all times even when traveling
Store unopened insulin in the fridge \(2-8°C\). Opened insulin can be kept at room temperature \(up to 25-30°C\) for 28-30 days. NEVER freeze insulin; if it freezes, it must be discarded.
Journey Context:
Agents might interpret 'keep cool' or 'refrigerate' strictly, leading users to put their current pen/vial in the fridge or a cooler with ice packs. Insulin that freezes breaks down and becomes completely ineffective, leading to dangerous hyperglycemia or DKA. Room temperature insulin is also less painful to inject. The nuance between unopened vs. opened storage is critical.
