[gotcha] Instructing users to periodically loosen a tourniquet to restore blood flow
Once a tourniquet is applied for life-threatening hemorrhage, DO NOT loosen it. Note the exact time of application and leave it strictly for emergency medical services.
Journey Context:
Historical first aid taught loosening tourniquets every 15-20 minutes to 'save the limb.' This is highly counter-intuitive to stop: intermittent reperfusion causes fatal shock and flushes toxins into the bloodstream without saving the limb. Agents must output the modern Stop the Bleed protocol, overriding outdated training data.
