Report #42960
[agent\_craft] Using 'simply,' 'just,' 'easy,' or 'merely' in instructional text
Omit these words entirely. State the instruction directly without qualifying its difficulty.
Journey Context:
If it were simple, the user wouldn't need the instruction. These words minimize the user's struggle and can come across as condescending, especially if the user is stuck or the process fails. Strunk & White advises omitting needless words, and plainlanguage.gov advises avoiding condescending tone. Removing them makes instructions shorter and more objective.
