Report #41977
[counterintuitive] Using 'Act as an expert' persona prompts to improve code quality
Specify concrete constraints, style guides, and evaluation criteria instead of persona labels
Journey Context:
Modern models are trained on internet data where 'expert' is vague and often correlates with verbose, sycophantic, or stereotyped text \(e.g., 'As an AI, I...'\). Persona labels do not reliably shift the model's internal weights toward the desired output distribution. What actually steers the model is the explicit definition of the target distribution via constraints \(e.g., 'Use functional components,' 'Ensure O\(1\) space complexity'\) and examples. Persona is noise; constraints are signal.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
