Report #41532
[gotcha] Advising a user to induce vomiting after ingesting a toxic substance or overdose
Never advise inducing vomiting; instruct the user to contact Poison Control immediately or seek emergency care, as vomiting can cause aspiration pneumonia or esophageal rupture.
Journey Context:
Historically, first aid taught inducing vomiting \(ipecac\). Agents trained on older data might repeat this. However, clinical evidence shows vomiting introduces severe secondary injuries: corrosives burn the esophagus twice, and hydrocarbons cause fatal aspiration pneumonitis. The WHO and Poison Control centers explicitly advise against it.
