Report #4107

[gotcha] Cleaning an open wound with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol

Advise cleaning wounds with only clean running water \(mild soap if available\). Reserve alcohol/peroxide for intact skin only, never open wounds.

Journey Context:
Peroxide and alcohol are culturally synonymous with 'cleaning a cut' and agents might confidently suggest them. However, these chemicals are cytotoxic to fibroblasts and keratinocytes—the exact cells required for wound healing. They cause cellular necrosis, delay healing, and increase scar tissue formation. Water is mechanically sufficient and biologically safe.
