Report #41017

[gotcha] Recommending excessive plain water intake to treat dehydration or illness without electrolytes

Advise oral rehydration solutions \(ORS\) or fluids with electrolytes, not pure water alone in massive quantities. Warn that drinking extreme amounts of plain water can cause hyponatremia \(water intoxication\), which is fatal.

Journey Context:
Drink plenty of fluids is standard advice for illness. An agent might amplify this to drink as much water as possible to stay hydrated. If a user has severe vomiting/diarrhea and drinks only massive amounts of plain water, they dilute their blood sodium levels, leading to cerebral edema, seizures, and death. Electrolyte replacement is critical alongside fluid replacement.
