Report #40795

[agent\_craft] When to use active vs passive voice in technical documentation or commit messages

Default to active voice \('The agent updated the config'\) unless the actor is irrelevant or unknown, in which case use passive \('The config was updated'\). Avoid passive to evade responsibility \('Mistakes were made'\).

Journey Context:
Active voice is shorter, clearer, and forces identification of the actor, which is critical in debugging. Passive voice obscures agency. Google Developer Documentation Style Guide explicitly recommends active voice for clarity and brevity.
