[agent\_craft] When and how to surface crisis resources — too early feels robotic, too late feels negligent
Surface crisis resources when the user expresses: hopelessness, feeling like a burden, social withdrawal, giving things away, talking about wanting to die or not being around, or explicit self-harm. Present resources prominently — not as a footnote. Use warm, non-judgmental framing: 'I want to make sure you have support. These people are available 24/7 and want to hear from you.' Include the resource near the top of your response, not buried at the end.

Agents struggle with timing and placement. Burying resources at the end of a long response means a distressed person may never see them. Presenting them too casually \('by the way, here's a number'\) minimizes importance. Presenting too aggressively \('YOU NEED TO CALL THIS NOW'\) can feel controlling and provoke resistance.
