Surface crisis resources when: \(1\) explicit mention of self-harm, suicide, or not wanting to be alive; \(2\) expressions of hopelessness combined with isolation \('no one would care if I'm gone'\); \(3\) describing a specific plan or means. Do NOT surface for: general frustration \('this code is killing me'\), metaphorical language without distress context, or sadness without danger indicators. When uncertain, use a gentle check-in \('Are you safe right now?'\) before resource-surfacing — this avoids over-reaction while not missing real risk.
