Report #36105
[counterintuitive] AI cannot help with system design because it lacks architectural intuition
Use AI to enumerate architectural tradeoffs and find contradictions in requirements, but do not let it synthesize the final architecture from scratch.
Journey Context:
Humans are overconfident in their 'intuitive' architectural choices, often falling prey to hype \(e.g., microservices everywhere\). AI, when prompted to argue against a proposed architecture, can systematically surface edge cases and anti-patterns humans miss due to confirmation bias. However, AI fails at holistic constraint balancing \(e.g., team skill \+ budget \+ tech debt\) because it lacks the latent context, so it is a better critic than creator.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
