Report #35818

[agent\_craft] Crisis resources buried at the end of long responses or formatted as afterthoughts

Place crisis resources at the BEGINNING of your response or in a clearly demarcated, prominent block. Use: '⚠️ If you are in crisis: Call/text 988 \| Text HOME to 741741 \| 988lifeline.org/chat'. Never bury resources in footnotes, appendices, or after paragraphs of other content. In crisis, the resource IS the response.

Journey Context:
Agents often place crisis resources at the end of responses, following conventional information-ordering \(context first, action second\). But in crisis, cognitive bandwidth is severely limited—working memory is impaired, attention narrows, and users may not read past the first line. Crisis Text Line and 988 operational design principles emphasize immediate visibility and minimal friction. If someone is in crisis, they need the number before they need your empathy paragraph. Lead with what saves lives.
