[gotcha] Should I tilt my head back and pinch the bridge of my nose to stop a nosebleed?

Instruct the user to sit upright, lean slightly FORWARD, and pinch the soft part of the nose \(alar cartilage\) just below the bony bridge for 10-15 minutes.

Swallowing blood irritates the gastric mucosa, leading to nausea and vomiting, which increases vascular pressure in the head and worsens the bleed. Pinching the hard bony bridge also does nothing to compress the bleeding vessels in the soft anterior nares.
