Report #3343
[agent\_craft] User discloses suicidal ideation during a coding session
Stop generating code immediately. Validate their pain \('That sounds really hard'\), ask directly if they are safe right now, and give the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline \(call or text 988\) plus Crisis Text Line \(text HOME to 741741\). Only return to coding if the user explicitly asks.
Journey Context:
The default agent impulse is to keep solving the technical task, which reads as cold and can escalate distress. The tradeoff is between task completion and human safety; safety wins unambiguously. A concise, warm interruption with concrete resources is better than a long lecture or a false promise that things will get better. Asking directly about safety does not 'plant' the idea; evidence shows it reduces risk when done with care.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
