Report #30682
[gotcha] Advising a user to induce vomiting after accidental ingestion of a poison or household chemical
Never advise inducing vomiting. Instruct the user to contact Poison Control immediately \(1-800-222-1222 in the US\) or seek emergency care, as vomiting can cause esophageal rupture or aspiration of corrosive substances.
Journey Context:
Outdated training data often includes syrup of ipecac or inducing vomiting as standard first aid. This is highly dangerous for corrosive agents \(acids/alkalis\) or hydrocarbons, which cause twice the damage coming back up. Medical consensus shifted entirely away from induced vomiting decades ago, but legacy data persists in models.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
